Today was our Black History for the Next Generation at the Maple Heights Library. I was joined by library staff and members of Warrensville Road Community Baptist Church in telling the stories of heroes in black history.
We told the story of Rosa Parks who courageously decided that she was not going to stand for injustice any longer. She followed through and her efforts led to a great victory in Montgomery, AL roughly a year later.
Mr. Robinson shared the story of the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II. They were the first black aviators in the United States Air force. The children heard how they won glory in battle as well as glory for their people.
I thank all who joined me in this effort. I was inspired through sharing and the children were exposed to the noble stories of our forbears.
